A little info about Paul:

Paul Burkett is a Montgomery native and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar and to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama in 1994. He attended Auburn University (Montgomery) where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 1987.

After graduating he attended Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in Montgomery where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1994.

Selected First Year Class Senator for the Student Bar Association. He served as Law Clerk for the Honorable Lynn Clardy Bright in the Montgomery County District Court.

He has been a part of the Montgomery Area Association of Realtors since 1988. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Baptist Retirement Centers and he has served as the Chairman of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and Vice Chairman of the Elder Law Section of the Alabama State Bar Association.

Paul’s practice areas include Real Estate & Probate, Business Entities, Contracts and General Litigation.

FedEx

This one actually drives me bonkers. Whenever I see a FedEx Truck drive by, I am always drawn to the arrow inside the logo. Do you see it? It is in between the “E” and the “X” in “EX”. Now every time you see the FedEx truck, it can drive you bonkers too.

Amazon.com

Look at the arrow. It starts at “A” and ends at “Z”. You have probably searched for something before that you couldn’t find anywhere. But Amazon had it. They offer their customers everything from “A” to “Z”.

Baskin Robbins

How many flavors does Baskin Robbins offer? Well, just look at the pink in their logo to find out.

Milwaukee Brewers

I spent two weeks working at Miller Park installing Point Of Sale systems when I was traveling the country as an installer for VistaMax. They have a new logo now, but a quick look at their old logo reveals an “M” and “B” which makes up the baseball glove.

Toblerone

Look closely at the image of Matterhorn Mountain and you can see a bear in Toblerone’s logo.

SONY Vaio

I think this logo is super cool. The “VAIO” is actually a representation of signals. The first, in the “V” and “A” are for a basic analogue signal. The “I” and “O” are actually a 1 and 0, which represents the digital signal.

Tostitos

This logo “hidden message” is a little bit more pronounced, but it is still a great use of the type to convey the idea of people enjoying themselves. If you have not seen it yet, the two “T’s” in the center are people about to dip a chip into some salsa.

Spartan Golf Club

The designer masterfully combined the golfer swinging, and a “power meter” to create the silhouette of a Spartan soldier.

Big Ten Conference

Well, this logo didn’t last long. The whole meaning behind this logo is there are actually 11 teams in the Big 10. You can see that the “G”, “T”, and “E” help to create an “11″. The new Big Ten logo has a bit of a hidden message as well. The 10 is also a “IG” to create “BIG”. I guess they couldn’t figure out how to use a 12 in the logo.

Le Tour de France

I really dig this logo. The “R” in “Tour” creates a person riding a bike. Very cool.

Goodwill

We all know the face that makes up the logo for Goodwill. But did you ever notice in the type that the “G” is the face as well?

Hersey Kisses

Check out the space in between the “K” and the “I”. Yep, that’s a Hersey Kiss.

So the next time you are looking at a logo, see if you can find a hidden meaning that gives the logo an extra bit of identity.

It’s hard to believe that 2011 is almost over. No matter how you decide to spend your holiday, we hope you have a fantastic and safe ending to the year.

For us here at Hatfield Taylor Company, it has been a breakthrough year, and we can only hope that 2012 holds as many awesome moments as this year did.

We have been working hard to build the company into something we can all be proud of. We would like to end this year by sharing our latest project with you. We are not only honored to have been a part of this project, but we are also super proud of the finished product.

In early November, we received a phone call from The Alabama Army National Guard. They explained that they had developed an app to help recruit the men and women that will serve our country in the near future. Their new app runs on the latest Apple tablet device, the iPad 2. Not only did they have an amazing champion app, but they also developed an awesome kiosk as well. The first day that I visited, I was highly impressed with the design. It really is a very innovative way to attract new recruits. I remember thinking, “These guys are ahead of the game.”

They were only missing one thing: a great website to help deploy the app. That is where we came in. We worked with them to develop a custom website that had the look and feel of who they are, as well as simple functionality for the users. We spent a great deal of time working on the design. We wanted it to not only look great, but also load fast, as the iPads have to use mobile internet to communicate with the servers. They wanted to take existing media that was provided to them and add their own effects. For example, they had a really cool graphic that you can see in many of their advertisements right now. It has a blue bar with The Alabama National Guard logo on it. We built the design of the headers around that graphic. We gave the subjects a “3-D” effect so that they looked as if they were “reaching out.” The bottom buttons are one of my favorite feature; when you mouse over the button, a nightvision scope appears over the button. Super cool.

We also developed a forum so that those who are utilizing this technology can learn from each other on how to best use the app.

This was a really fun project. The people that we worked with were true professionals. They have an eye for design and detail that you don’t find very often. They knew exactly what they wanted, and they were always willing to hear our ideas as well.

I wish we could let you take a tour of this new website, but it will be a protected site not available to the general public. I would, however, love to show you a few screenshots of the website.

Part 2  -  Part 3

Anyway we met with him yesterday after a nice long 4th of July break. One thing I noticed was this guy is laid back and knows what he is looking for. He was also incredibly open to ideas and very responsive with his own. I can’t tell you how nice it is to get productive feedback from the people you are working for. It helps when they are a little tech savvy, but really, just taking an interest in what we are doing together is most important. We are able to understand who they are better, what their style is, and most of all, what their expectations are. Some people let you take complete creative control, and others like to be involved throughout the whole process. As long as they are responsive through the whole project…it’s all good.

This is by no means a “this better be you or don’t call us” blog post. We don’t operate like that. It’s just nice. It makes the job so much more fun.

Well, I can’t wait to get this site up and running for everyone to see. Back to work.

We had such a great time in Seagrove Beach for Memorial Day Weekend! We ate watermelon, took the boat out, harvested oysters, had a shrimp boil, and hung out with great friends! Here are a few pictures of us gathering oysters for our boil. We hope you had a great holiday weekend!

Have you been to the Red Bar in Grayton Beach, Florida lately? Chances are if you ever visit the 30-A/Seaside area, you have spent time in Grayton Beach. I used to surf, fish, and hang out with friends and family in Grayton. It’s a really cool place.

We built the website and designed the logo recently for Grayton Beach Charters, and we have also made a great sign that you can see when you make the turn going to the Red Bar. Capt. Scott has already received phone calls from the sign, and he put it up last night. That’s a good…….sign.

I am going to be in the area for Memorial Day Weekend, and I am going to swing by and see it. Pretty cool.
